CENTRALE

This restaurant is a staple in the Asti dining scene, thanks in part to its ability to offer a menu that never gets old. Its location is that of a traditional trattoria, on the main road before ascending to the piazza. The informal and elegant main dining room enjoys a magnificent view of the surrounding hills on one side and features a small stage, almost as if inviting you to a show.

The menu begins (antipasto €10) with Fassone veal with tuna sauce, as well as hand-washed Piedmontese veal tripe with Cervere leeks, black-eyed peas, and a fried egg, or Nice cardoons and black truffle over a Raschera fondue. For the first course (€13), don't miss the agnolotti stuffed with Moncalvo beef with roast gravy (or a meat broth version) or the ravioli stuffed with Castelmagno, pumpkin, and hazelnut. The main course (€16) has always featured the famous mixed boiled meats of Moncalvo oxen served from a trolley with traditional sauces. A good alternative is the roast saddle of venison with celeriac puree, chocolate and red berry risotto. Desserts (€6) include Barbero nougat semifreddo, bonet (a type of cake), and a soft dark chocolate cake. There's also no shortage of seafood options, from slow-cooked cod, a liquid escarole and orange salad to the "Acquerello" Carnaroli risotto with rosé and prawns. A well-stocked wine cellar completes the picture of a restaurant that can always be recommended.
