2-6 October 2023: 14th edition of the National Double Bass Performance Competition “Werther - Emilio Benzi”, the biennial appointment of the Antonio Vivaldi Conservatory which represents one of the top initiatives of the Higher Art and Music Institute of Alessandria.
This edition will be curated by Prof. Paolo Baldini teacher of Double Bass at the Vivaldi Conservatory.
The competition, launched in 1995, will be held between Monday 2 and Wednesday 4 October, with nine excellent candidates, divided into two categories.
The selections /performances of the Competition will be open to the public.
On Wednesday 4 October at 6 pm, in the Pittaluga Auditorium (Via Parma 1) an important final moment, with concert of the prize winners, but also those musicians deemed worthy by the jury.
The appointments for the double bass players don't end on 4 October; all competitors, but also other interested double bass players are invited to participate on 5 and 6 October in the Masterclass held by Dorin Marc, professor of double bass at the University of Music of Nurnberg, winner of many prestigious double bass awards, who has held concerts in all the major cultural centres of Europe.
The event is supported and made possible thanks to the contribution of the "Gustavo e Delfina Ivaldi" Fund specifically addressed to the Double Bass class of the Conservatory of Alessandria, by the company Savarez/Corelli and by the luthier workshop of Mariotto Guido.
