L'Altro Monferrato 2024. Art, Theatre Music Cinema and Nature between Farmhouses and Castles

from 23 August 2024 to 22 September 2024

Description
The green landscape of Monferrato features once again in the late summer multimedia festival conceived and managed by Maria De Barbieri and Gianni Masella for AgriTeatro, the worksite of art and performance founded by Tonino Conte in Cascina San Biagio, in Cremolino. L'Altro Monferrato has become one of the most important events of the area over the last ten years and, animating squares, vineyards and castles, it now involves ten municipalities: Carpeneto, Casaleggio Boiro, Cassinelle, Cremolino, Grognardo, Molare, Morsasco, Prasco, Rocca Grimalda and Tagliolo Monferrato, with a program articulated into 14 events between outdoor shows, meetings and walks in the enchanting scenery of the hills of Acqui Terme and Ovada, from 23 August to 22 September. The festival opens under the sign of laughter with two outstanding guests: Augusto Fornari in his exhilarating "Amnesie di un viaggiatore senza biglietto" (Friday 23 August, in the courtyard of the castle of Tagliolo Monferrato) and Paolo Hendel, accompanied by the trumpet of Renato Catini and by the double bass of Michele Staino, who brings "Tempi Moderni" to Carpeneto (Saturday 24 August), a new fun recital in which, remembering Chaplin, he runs through the absurd contradictions of contemporary life. A reading in music by Roberto Alinghieri ("Com'e' bello il vino" on Sunday 25 August in the cloister of the town hall of Grognardo) and a Poetic Walk among the vineyards, with final aperitif based on local wines which have become famous, such as the "Timorasso Gagà" and the Rosato "Cincinnato", the reading "Versi Divini" with Gianni Masella and Mariella Speranza (29 August, from Rocca Grimalda to Carpeneto) will all be dedicated to the poetry of wine. We move from local to international tradition, with a special focus on Spain which begins on Saturday 31 August in the square of Molare with the arrival of the Catalan group Atapeida, the first time in Italy with their 'almost' flying carpets, in the acrobatic "Esberlar", a vortex of jumps and bodies in movement. It continues on 13 September with the screening of "Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown" by Pedro Almodovar in the field of Cascina San Biagio, presented by Steve Della Casa, to close the following day in the cellars of the Castle of Rocca Grimalda with "Quijote" the absolute masterpiece of one of Europe's most awarded figure theatre companies, the Bambalina of Valencia. Castles, squares, farmhouses and ancient churches are the true heart of the festival: from Casaleggio Boiro - the foot of the manor house chosen by Sandro Bolchi as the set of his Promessi Sposi (The Bethroded) will host the lecture show "La lunga notte dell'innominato" (Sunday 1 September) - to the square of Cremolino which, on Saturday 7 September will become the large board for the "Game of Snakes and Ladders and sustainability", a day full of walks and emotions which will come to its climax among the trails of Cascina La Rossa of Morasco, where Campsirago Residenza will stage the last visionary creation of Michele Losi, the travelling show "Hansel and Gretel". Cascina San Biagio becomes the protagonist once again on Sunday 8 September, with the adorable "Escargot" a success produced by Teatro del Piccione staged all over Europe and, among flour throwing and laughter, the former Church of Santa Margherita in Cassinelle will host "Clown spaventati panettieri" by the irresistible Meroni Zamboni Duo (Sunday 22 September) The entire event will be focused on a full and deep immersion into the beauty and atmosphere of the locations, with the precious collaboration of the Sports Group of Prasco and the prestigious contribution of the Fai - delegation of Alessandria Ovada branch - which will organize an artistic tour of the historical centre of Molare (Saturday 31 August), from the Tower to the Oratory, the ancient property of the Guala family, to the eighteenth century parish church embellished with frescoes by Pietro Ivaldi, known as Il Muto, illustrated by the art historian Franco Boggero; and a visit to Pietre Verdi (Cassinelle); a coral cliff of thirty million years ago, because this area was once sea... L'Altro Monferrato enjoys the support of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria, Fondazione CRT of Turin and of the Municipalities of Carpeneto, Cassinelle, Cremolino, Grognardo, Molare, Morsasco, Tagliolo Monferrato, the Pro Loco of Cassinelle and the collaboration of FAI, delegation of Alessandria, branch of Ovada, of the Amateur Sports Association of Prasco, of Cascina La Rossa and of Maninvino. The Association Castello di Rocca Grimalda, the Regional Wine Store of Ovada, the Tourist Information Office of Ovada, the Pro Loco of Cremolino, Unione Montana tra Langa e Alto Monferrato. L’Altro Monferrato is also sponsored by the Piedmont Regional Authority, the Provincial Authority of Alessandria and Alexala.
